Veneers Consultation
First, you’ll need to schedule a consultation with one of our cosmetic dentists. During your appointment, they’ll help you explore your options for cosmetic dentistry. They’ll also be able to determine if you’re a candidate for the porcelain veneers procedure.
In general, you may be a candidate for dental veneers if you need to repair small chips, cracks, or gaps affecting the front teeth. Unlike other restorations, such as dental crowns, veneers are not intended to repair structural damage to your smile. Instead, they’re designed to improve the aesthetics of teeth in the “smile zone.”

If you have staining that doesn’t respond to professional teeth whitening, we may recommend the veneers procedure. This may especially be the case if you have fluorosis stains, which affect the entire structure of your teeth.
Preparing the Front Teeth
Next, one of our dentists will prepare the fronts of your teeth so they’re ready to receive the porcelain veneers. Since veneers are bonded to the fronts of your teeth, we’ll need to remove a thin layer of enamel. That way, the veneers will sit flush with the rest of your teeth and look natural.
Once your teeth are prepped, we’ll take impressions of your teeth and send them to the lab that will be responsible for creating your dental veneers. To protect your smile in the meantime, we’ll place temporary veneers over your front teeth.
Veneers Placement
When your permanent veneers arrive from the lab, we’ll ask you to return to our office. During your appointment, we’ll remove the temporary veneers and replace them with the permanent ones. Before doing anything else, our cosmetic dentist will then make sure your veneers are the perfect shape, size, and shade.
Next, we’ll need to prepare the front surfaces of your teeth. This is done by cleaning, polishing, and etching your teeth to create the perfect surface for cementing the veneers in place.
Once the permanent veneers are bonded, our dentist will examine your bite and adjust the fit of your veneers as needed. That way, your veneers treatment will feel comfortable and look natural.
Veneers Aftercare
Please continue to practice good oral hygiene at home. This includes brushing your teeth twice a day for two minutes at a time and flossing once daily. Depending on your oral care needs, you may also add a fluoride mouth rinse to your routine. The healthier your smile, the longer your porcelain dental veneers are likely to last.
We also advise that you continue seeing our dentists for routine preventive care. These preventive measures will help protect the investment you made in your smile.
